[Saba Sports News] UEFA has officially announced reforms to the UEFA Nations League format effective from 2028. The decision was confirmed at a UEFA meeting held in Istanbul this Wednesday. Under the new structure starting from the 2028-29 campaign, the UEFA Nations League will be streamlined from the current four divisions down to three, with 18 teams in each tier. Each division will consist of three groups of six sides. Every team will play six matches against five distinct opponents, featuring home and away fixtures against teams of different rankings as well as same-tier rivals. A total of 55 European national teams will take part in the competition. Division C will feature one seven-team group, whose fixtures will kick off in an earlier match window. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and promotion-relegation play-offs will remain unchanged in line with the existing rules.
