[Saba Sports News] Following Max Verstappen’s failure to claim victory in the recent F1 Spanish Grand Prix, where he fell behind again while driving for Red Bull Racing, he now trails by 12 points in the championship standings. Recently, F1 veteran Guenther Steiner, during a media interview, discussed the current state of F1, bluntly stating that “Verstappen has withdrawn from championship contention.” He noted, “This season McLaren has risen, with drivers like Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri showing increased competitiveness. Red Bull’s dominance is no longer present, putting Verstappen under greater competitive pressure. Based on his performance so far, Verstappen cannot be considered McLaren’s opponent.” It is believed that F1 contains numerous unpredictable factors such as weather changes, track conditions, and driver mistakes, which could alter race results and the championship standings. Even though Verstappen currently trails in the standings, there remains a possibility he could make a comeback via excellent performances or opponent errors in future races.
