[Saba Sports News] Stephen Curry sustained a hamstring injury during Game 1 of the Golden State Warriors’ second-round playoff matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night, and updates have emerged regarding his potential return.
Curry appeared to tweak his left hamstring while defending in the second quarter of the Warriors’ 99-88 win at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Though he initially tried to play through it, he soon signaled for a substitution and did not return. The Warriors later ruled him out with a left hamstring strain.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Curry has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain and is expected to miss at least one week. That timeline would keep him sidelined through at least Game 4 of the series.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had already hinted postgame that Curry was unlikely to suit up for Game 2, which now appears all but certain.
Before exiting, Curry scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting in just 13 minutes. While Golden State managed to close out the win — aided by Minnesota’s historically bad three-point shooting — they could face a much steeper challenge with their star guard unavailable for the next few games.
