[Saba Sports News] Australian cricketer Steve Smith amazed tennis legend Novak Djokovic with his tennis abilities at a Melbourne Park exhibition event. The charity match, a prelude to the Australian Open, revealed Smith’s surprising tennis talent. On the court with the 24-time Grand Slam winner, Smith showcased his competitive edge. Djokovic’s light serve was skillfully returned by Smith, impressing Djokovic who acknowledged his skill with a bow.
The event also saw Djokovic humorously attempting cricket, contrasting his expertise in tennis. When back with his tennis racquet, Djokovic’s shot ended up in the crowd.
In cricket, Smith is preparing to step into the opener’s role in Test cricket, a vacancy created by David Warner’s retirement. He’s also been named ODI captain for the West Indies series, as Pat Cummins rests.
Djokovic, on his part, is defending his title at the Australian Open and is set to face a pre-qualifier in the early rounds. Aiming for his 25th Grand Slam and a possible Golden Slam with the Paris Olympics in sight, Djokovic continues his pursuit of tennis excellence at Melbourne Park.
