[Saba Sports News] On April 8, the BWF released the Sudirman Cup group stage schedule, with Team China’s three matches set for April 27, 28, and 30. Many Chinese fans, having bought tickets for May 1 (the original expected final group matchday) before the schedule was announced, were left disappointed, leading to online outrage and demands for refunds. The frustration stems from this year’s scheduling change compared to the 2023 Sudirman Cup in Suzhou. The group stage spans five days. In 2023, China played on Days 1, 3, and 5; this year, they compete on Days 1, 2, and 4. Insiders revealed the schedule resulted from prolonged negotiations, delaying its announcement by three weeks—a move that left the Xiamen organizers frustrated. A BWF spokesperson explained the adjustment aimed to give top-seeded teams more rest. Both China and South Korea finish group play on April 30, allowing a full day’s break before the knockout rounds.
