[Saba Sports News] Team USA’s Olympic roster features some of the greatest basketball players ever. But could they excel in other sports? That question was posed to six of them, and the answers were interesting:
Stephen Curry: “I’d try my hand at golf.”
Curry is an excellent golfer and even won the American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament last year. Had he focused on golf from a young age, he might have become a successful professional golfer. Many NBA teams probably wish he had gone that route.
Kevin Durant: “Swimming.”
Anthony Edwards: “Swimming.”
Jrue Holiday: “I could do a lot of everything. Swimming, volleyball. Track, I’d probably stink at track. But I’d
probably (go) swimming and volleyball. Something like that.”
Durant, Edwards, and Holiday all chose swimming. Jrue was confident in his volleyball skills, too.
Devin Booker: “Honestly, none of them. Only basketball.”
Booker didn’t think he’d excel at anything other than basketball, though he might do well in esports with his gaming skills.
Derrick White: “Probably not… Baseball have Olympics? I’d try for that one.”
White picked baseball, which isn’t part of the 2024 Olympics but will be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
Edwards has shown confidence in his swimming, previously claiming he could beat any USA Basketball teammate in a race: “Freestyle. I’m fast too, though. [Fastest swimmer] on the team? For sure. They ain’t no swimmers. We got Joel ‘Big’ Embiid, you got AD and Bam, they ain’t swimming fast. Bron, he ain’t swimming fast. KD, Kawhi, and Tatum, they not swimming fast at all. My only challengers are – Book, when he might not know how to swim. Jrue, he might drown. And Haliburton, oh my god. If Haliburton beat me then I just need to never touch the water again.”
Considering Durant and Holiday also chose swimming, a competition among them would be interesting. Jrue might emerge victorious.
For now, the team is focusing on basketball, aiming for a fifth straight gold medal.
