[Saba Sports News] According to Italian media reports, the Milan Court has issued a judgment in a legal dispute between Inter Milan and its sponsor, ruling that neither party owes the other anything, and Inter Milan is not required to repay the €2.5 million in sponsorship fees it has already received. The dispute originated from a sponsorship contract signed in June 2020, but Inter Milan terminated the agreement due to the other party’s failure to make payments, and the contract was never effectively implemented. The lawsuit began on September 21, 2020, just days after Inter Milan announced the termination. Following a lengthy legal process, the final oral hearing was held on December 11, 2025, at the Specialized Court for Corporate Affairs of the Milan Court, and the judgment was officially issued recently. In July 2020, IC Markets paid Inter Milan an initial installment of €2.5 million, but asked to renegotiate payment terms and deadlines a few weeks later, citing economic uncertainty caused by the pandemic. As the other party failed to pay on schedule, Inter Milan exercised an express termination clause in the contract in September 2020.
The editor believes that the court rejected the sponsor’s claim that the termination was unlawful and ruled that Inter Milan’s exercise of the termination clause was legitimate. This is undoubtedly great news for the club. Previously, Inter Milan had set aside €2 million in provisions for this case in its 2020 financial report.
