[Saba Sports News] According to Italian media reports, AC Milan and Inter Milan have submitted a request to begin preliminary work on the new stadium site in May of this year. The two clubs have previously acquired the San Siro Stadium and its surrounding area, and they plan to build the new stadium on the current San Siro parking lot. The existing San Siro Stadium will later be demolished, retaining only a portion of the stands as a museum. The new stadium is expected to be operational by 2031 and will host its first match at that time.
However, Italian media reports indicate that AC Milan and Inter Milan submitted a proposal to the Milan city government this past Friday, requesting to start initial renovations on the construction site in May. This includes leveling the original parking area and relocating some turnstiles, gates, and video surveillance systems. The current turnstiles 7, 8, 9, and 10 at San Siro will be moved to a location closer to the stadium, and they are expected to be out of use during the 2026-27 season.
