[Saba Sports News] Manchester City officially announced that the expanded North Stand at the Etihad Stadium will be named the Pep Guardiola Stand. The stand will fully open for the first time in the season finale against Aston Villa this weekend, which will also mark Guardiola’s final game in charge of the club. As part of the renaming project, the club will commission a statue of Guardiola to be placed at the entrance leading to the stand. Situated at the end of Joe Mercer Way, the stand will become a new highlight on matchdays. Serving as a core structure, it forms part of a brand-new multi-purpose entertainment complex. The complex also features Medlock Square, a new fan gathering zone, a 401-room hotel, an updated club museum, retail outlets, office premises, as well as multiple restaurants and bars.
The editor believes that Guardiola forged a special bond with fans through a decade of sincere dedication, passion and relentless pursuit of glory. The Pep Guardiola Stand stands as an eternal tribute to this bond, the club’s golden era and the one-of-a-kind football genius at its heart.
