[Saba Sports News] According to the latest news from Spanish media, the renovation project of Camp Nou, the home stadium of La Liga team Barcelona, has severely exceeded the budget. Initially, the budget set for this renovation plan was not too high, but after several adjustments, the budget has continuously risen, more than doubling. After the initial plan was established, the management changed, and the plan was significantly revised. Not only did the renovation budget for Camp Nou itself double, but the budgets for the accompanying stadiums and related facilities, as well as urban planning aspects, have also increased significantly. To date, the officially announced budget is much higher than the original plan, and this does not even include the rent for the temporary home stadium, lost ticket revenue, and interest on loans to be repaid.
The reasons for such a large overrun and delayed schedule are actually quite numerous. The main reason is that the design plans have been changed repeatedly, almost equivalent to starting over from scratch, adding many facilities that were not originally included, such as a roof, exclusive viewing areas, accessibility facilities, and underground parking. In addition, there were later supply chain issues, with construction material prices rising sharply and supply being delayed. Furthermore, the construction team was unstable; the original design team left, and the new construction party lacked experience and had inadequate management.
