[Saba Sports News] Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu are badminton stars from India who have won medals at the Olympics. Who will be the next badminton player to win an Olympic medal has become a topic of great interest among Indian fans. Five years ago, when Saina and PV Sindhu were both in the world’s top ten, there were no other Indian players in the top 60, with only a few young players making it into the top 100. Head coach Pullela Gopichand has repeatedly emphasized the lack of a structured plan and exposure for the next generation of Indian badminton players. After five years of effort, Indian women’s badminton is beginning to revive, with five players currently in the world’s top 50: PV Sindhu at 14th, Malvika Bansod at 36th, Aakarshi Kashyap at 41st, Anupama Upadhyaya at 47th, and Unnati Hooda at 50th. Additionally, there are seven more players ranked between 51st and 100th. In the junior category, there are also 11 Indian players in the world’s top 50. They are all very talented and have the potential to become the next Olympic medalists.
