[Saba Sports News] Following the Toronto Raptors’ surprising trade of OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks, speculation is mounting about the team possibly embarking on a rebuild. According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, there’s now anticipation within the league that Raptors’ star Pascal Siakam could be the next major trade piece.
Siakam, a 29-year-old two-time All-NBA player, is currently the Raptors’ most valuable veteran available for trade. This season, he’s been performing impressively, averaging 21.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, making him a coveted power forward. However, with Siakam approaching free agency after the season, Toronto might opt to trade him to avoid losing him without any return.
The Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, and Indiana Pacers, all aiming for playoff spots, are reportedly interested in Siakam. Each of these teams is looking to strengthen their power forward position, currently filled by Harrison Barnes/Keegan Murray, Jalen Johnson/Saddiq Bey, and Jalen Smith/Obi Toppin, respectively. Among these interested teams, there seems to be a frontrunner, as indicated by historical patterns in similar trade situations.
