[Saba Sports News] January 1st is a unique time in the United States, marking not only a new year but also the season for setting New Year’s resolutions, a tradition even NBA legends like Charles Barkley partake in. While some resolutions are ambitious and often short-lived, Barkley’s this year was comparatively simple yet personal: he pledged to stop drinking Diet Coke for the entire year.
For many, giving up Diet Coke might seem like an easy task, akin to ditching Bud Light for beer enthusiasts. However, for Barkley, who has been a long-time consumer of this particular soda, it’s a significant challenge. His co-hosts on “Inside the NBA” decided to playfully support him during their broadcast following the Milwaukee Bucks-San Antonio Spurs game.
As the show concluded, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson banded together to remove any Diet Coke temptations from the set, humorously pretending to savor the drink themselves. Barkley, looking somewhat disheartened, playfully interacted with his colleagues during this staged show of ‘support.’
With a little help from his friends, Barkley is now well on his way, having successfully adhered to his resolution for six days, leaving 359 more to stay committed.
