[Saba Sports News] Cameron Johnson is generating significant buzz on the NBA trade market, and the Sacramento Kings might be leading the charge to acquire the Brooklyn Nets forward.
Veteran NBA reporter Jake Fischer revealed on Saturday that the Kings are viewed as a top contender for Johnson, according to an unnamed Western Conference executive. With an 8-2 record under interim head coach Doug Christie, the Kings are making a playoff push and have emerged as serious suitors for the 28-year-old forward.
Johnson, a versatile 6-foot-8 two-way player, is averaging 19.6 points per game this season and remains under contract for two more years. As the Nets shift into rebuilding mode following trades involving Mikal Bridges and Dennis Schroder, Johnson appears to be a prime trade candidate.
The Kings have assets to tempt Brooklyn without parting with core stars De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. Their younger talent, including Malik Monk, Kevin Huerter, Keon Ellis, Keegan Murray, and Devin Carter, along with draft picks, gives them a strong foundation for a trade package. While the Cleveland Cavaliers have also been linked to Johnson, Fischer describes their interest as “preliminary at best.”
With other teams reportedly in the mix, Sacramento’s position as a leading contender makes them a focal point in the race for the talented forward.
