[Saba Sports News] According to motorsport.com, after Carlos Sainz secured the first podium finish for Williams under James Vowles’ leadership at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Mercedes F1 Team Principal Toto Wolff sent Williams Team Principal James Vowles a gift bag filled with champagne to mark the milestone moment. Notably, Wolff attached a note to the gift bag which read: “You lucky bastard! Congrats on your first podium as team principal.” Meanwhile, George Russell also congratulated his former team after the race, saying, “First of all, congratulations to Carlos and Williams. It’s a fantastic result for them.” Regarding Sainz’s podium performance on the Baku streets, Vowles explained in an interview with Sky Sports F1: “It was a great drive by him. I mean, he really built his rhythm lap after lap. We knew the Mercedes was fast, but credit to him. He didn’t put a foot wrong the entire weekend.”
