[Saba Sports News] Recently, Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur announced the pricing policy for next season’s season tickets. Although the overall season ticket prices have not been raised, the discounted senior season tickets have been eliminated. Starting from the 2025/26 season, fans aged 65 and above will no longer enjoy any concessions when purchasing senior season tickets.
It is reported that since the opening of the new stadium, the number of senior concession season tickets has been increasing, and the club finds it increasingly difficult to sustain the associated costs. For elderly fans who are new to purchasing season tickets, there are now no concessions available, meaning the cost of watching matches has suddenly risen significantly. As for those longtime elderly fans who have been enjoying senior concessions, their discounts will be gradually reduced over the coming years until they are completely phased out, effectively increasing their match-watching expenses year by year.
From an objective perspective, football is not just a business—it also emphasizes legacy and human connections. Senior concessions were originally a way for clubs to reciprocate the lifelong support of elderly fans. However, they have now become an avenue for clubs to cut costs and boost revenue. This move may lead the most loyal elderly fans to feel that the club cares only about money, forgetting the years of companionship they have shared.
