[Saba Sports News] Tristan Thompson, a forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers, has received a 25-game suspension for breaching the NBA’s anti-drug policy. The league announced on Tuesday that Thompson tested positive for ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033, both performance-enhancing drugs prohibited by the NBA/NBA Players Association collective bargaining agreement.
Before this season, Thompson signed a one-year contract with the Cavaliers. In 36 games, primarily as a substitute, he averaged 3.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. The 32-year-old did not play in the NBA the previous season.
Thompson, originally selected as the fourth overall pick by the Cavaliers in 2011 from the University of Texas, is now in his second tenure with the team. He was part of the Cavaliers’ 2016 NBA championship team. Thompson’s standout performances were during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons, where he averaged a double-double. He played for the Kings, Pacers, and Bulls during the 2021-2022 season.
