[Saba Sports News] According to Italian reports, a 26-year-old passionate Atalanta fan was stabbed to death in a clash involving fans early morning in Bergamo at 1 AM. The incident reportedly took place on the streets leading to Atalanta Stadium, with both sides suspected to be Inter and Atalanta fans. The victim was a fervent supporter of Atalanta’s North Stand, the most passionate section of Atalanta’s home supporters. Witnesses say the conflict initially started in a bar near the stadium and then spread to nearby streets. Both groups of fans engaged in intense confrontations using clubs, stones, bottles, and knives. The local Carabinieri acted swiftly, arresting a 19-year-old suspect on the spot and finding the weapon used to commit the crime within meters of the victim. The specific date of the conflict was not disclosed, possibly due to privacy protection for the victim. Notably, Bergamo, where Atalanta is located, and Milan, which is 50 kilometers away, belong to the same Lombardy region. Italian Carabinieri are responsible for policing small towns, while National Police handle security in larger cities, with local police managing minor offenses like traffic violations.
