[Saba Sports News] According to Italian media reports, two more referees have been questioned by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office in connection with a 2024 Serie A match involving Inter Milan. Prosecutors in Milan have recently been conducting an investigation into Italy’s refereeing circle. Two Italian officials, Luigi Nasca and Rudolf Dioulo, were summoned for questioning at the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office a few days ago. The match in question took place on January 6, 2024, when Inter Milan secured a 2-1 home win over Hellas Verona in Serie A. In the closing stages of the game, Davide Frattesi scored a late rebound winner for Inter. However, prior to the goal, Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni caught Verona player Duda with an elbow inside the penalty area, an incident which went unnoticed by the on-field referee. At the time, Luigi Nasca was serving as the VAR referee and Rudolf Dioulo as the assistant VAR official; neither intervened to alert the match referee.
The editor believes that the investigation into Italy’s refereeing community is still ongoing. Last Thursday, VAR supervisor Andrea Gervasoni also underwent a lengthy questioning by prosecutors. After the inquiry, he stated: “I have provided all the necessary answers to the prosecution.”
