[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Court No. 16 of the First Instance of Valencia has formally accepted the lawsuit filed by Valencia CF against the streaming platform Netflix and the production company ‘Conspiraçao Filmes’. The core of the lawsuit concerns the documentary about Real Madrid player Vinicius Junior, titled ‘Vini Jr.: The Popstar’. Reports indicate that Valencia CF has raised two main demands in the lawsuit: firstly, compensation for damages caused to the club by the broadcast of the documentary. Secondly, a demand to correct the subtitles for certain scenes in the film. Valencia specifically points out that the documentary incorrectly subtitled the chants of Mestalla stadium fans at the time, who were shouting “tonto…” (“fool…”), as having a racially discriminatory meaning by labeling them as “mono, mono…” (“monkey, monkey…”). It is worth noting that Valencia CF had already sent a “correct immediately” demand to the production company on May 19th this year, accusing the documentary content of being “inconsistent with the facts” and creating an “unfair and false representation” of Valencia fans. As the producers failed to meet their demands, Valencia ultimately chose to resolve the matter through legal channels.
