[Saba Sports News] Varun Chakravarthy was at it again, dismantling Harry Brook’s defenses for the second time in just three days. The repeat dismissal occurred during the second T20I between India and England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, January 25.
The moment unfolded just after the powerplay, with Chakravarthy delivering his third ball of the evening—a classic back-of-the-hand delivery. The extra bounce and the gap between Brook’s bat and pad led to the ball clipping the top of off stump, leaving the batter with nothing but a wry smile.
The drama didn’t end there. On-air commentators Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar couldn’t resist poking fun at Brook’s misfortune.
“Once again, it’s Varun Chakravarthy. You don’t need the smog; this one sneaked through and crashed into the stumps,” quipped Shastri.
Gavaskar followed up with his own dig, saying, “Varun Chakravarthy looking at him might be asking if there’s any smog.”
The remarks referenced Brook’s earlier statement blaming smog in Kolkata during the first T20I for England’s struggles against spin—comments that didn’t sit well with Indian fans and experts alike.
As for the match, England once again batted first after India opted to field. Skipper Jos Buttler led the charge with a quickfire 45 off 30 balls, top-scoring for his side. At the time of writing, the game hangs in the balance, with India requiring 71 runs from eight overs with five wickets in hand.
