Sports News] In a recent exclusive interview with Dutch media, three-time
Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen disclosed that his favorite football
club is PSV Eindhoven. Verstappen mentioned that he developed a fondness for
PSV as his father was one of their sponsors, which led to frequent invitations
to watch their matches. His affinity for the club has grown to the extent that
he stated he would willingly give up winning any race for an entire year if it
meant PSV could triumph in the UEFA Champions League. Notably, PSV’s last
Champions League victory occurred nine years prior to Verstappen’s birth.
However, the landscape of European football has significantly transformed since
then, making it challenging for clubs from smaller nations to compete for the
prestigious title. Nonetheless, PSV has experienced a resurgence in recent
years. In the current season, they hold a 12-point lead in the league and are
poised to reclaim the Eredivisie crown. Some fans have humorously remarked that
it is more challenging for PSV to win the Champions League than for Verstappen
to secure eight consecutive F1 championships.
