[Saba Sports News] According to Romanian media reports, 80-year-old Romanian head coach Mircea Lucescu remains in a coma and in critical condition. The legendary coach is still in the intensive care unit in stable but serious condition. The 80-year-old is unconscious and relying on life support machines. Lucescu has been hospitalized since March 29, after losing consciousness during a meeting at the national team training camp. After several days of stable condition, he suffered a heart attack last Friday. He suffered an acute myocardial infarction at the hospital on Friday morning, having been rushed to emergency care the previous weekend due to health issues. He suddenly felt unwell during a technical meeting ahead of the national team’s training session, compounded by Romania’s 1–0 defeat to Turkey in the World Cup qualification play-offs, which eliminated them from advancing.
The editor believes that during Lucescu’s tenure as head coach, the Romanian national team delivered an impressive performance in the UEFA Nations League, successfully qualifying for the play-offs to compete for a spot in this summer’s World Cup.
