The team, led by Rohit Sharma, arrived in Cape Town on January 1 and commenced practice sessions.
Virat Kohli, who was the highest run-scorer for India in the first Test with 114 runs over two innings, has been vigorously training for the upcoming match. A video of him hitting Ravichandran Ashwin for a six in practice went viral, exciting fans for his performance in the second Test.
Kohli showed promise in the first Test, scoring 38 in the first innings and a fighting 76 in the second. Despite India’s total collapse to 131, his effort stood out.
With a remarkable record in South Africa, including 833 runs from 16 innings at an average of 52.06, Kohli is anticipated to lead the scoring in the second Test, starting 2024 on a high note and potentially steering India back into the series.
