[Saba Sports News] Recently, Williams Team Principal James Vowles explained the real cause of Alexander Albon’s brake fire during the first practice session of the Singapore Grand Prix weekend. Albon encountered an issue right at the start of Friday practice at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Shortly after exiting the pits in FP1, the brakes on his car suddenly caught fire, forcing the team to end the session early. In the latest episode of “The Vowles Verdict,” Vowles detailed the cause of the incident and discussed whether this issue might recur before the end of the 2025 season. Vowles stated: “First, it’s important to note that Singapore, and the upcoming Mexico race, are both tracks with very high brake loads. On such tracks, brake cooling is extremely difficult. You could see that even Lewis [Hamilton] had trouble during the race due to overheated brakes. In fact, most teams have to manage brake temperatures throughout the entire race.” However, Vowles also clarified that Albon’s issue in FP1 was unrelated to this. At that time, he had only completed an out lap and a push lap, and the problem occurred during that push lap. “We noticed an anomaly around turn 10, and a few corners later we told him to back off. Upon inspection, we found the problem originated from a hardware failure in the brake-by-wire system.”
