[Saba Sports News] Preceding the start of training camp, the Golden State Warriors have made another addition to their roster. Rudy Gay has inked a one-year contract with the team, as confirmed by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Gay will vie for an available roster spot with the Warriors.
During the summer, the Warriors were one of several teams linked to Gay after he was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder, a move that followed his involvement in two separate trades.
Now at 36 years old, Gay is embarking on his 18th NBA season. His performance last season with the Utah Jazz saw him average just 5.2 points in 14.6 minutes per game. While Gay has had multiple seasons where he averaged more than 20 points per game, it’s evident that those days are in the past.
Given the departure of Donte DiVincenzo in free agency and the trade of Jordan Poole, the Warriors are actively seeking second-unit players with scoring abilities. Gay will have the opportunity to demonstrate his potential contribution in this regard.
