[Saba Sports News] Williams Team Principal James Vowles recently discussed the F1 schedule in a media interview and proposed a significant solution. Vowles believes the current schedule is extremely dense, with drivers participating in 24 races and 6 sprint races, placing immense pressure on both drivers and teams to get through a season. Vowles offered his perspective, suggesting that shortening the race weekend could be a viable solution. Replacing the current three-day event with a two-day weekend would help improve F1’s current situation. Vowles stated: “But if you take Friday away, that’s 24 days a year, and then you can add potentially two more race weekends, taking the season to 26 races, while making the schedule more efficient.” The editor believes that while shortening the F1 race week is somewhat controversial, it is generally positive. As the number of F1 events continues to increase, longer race weeks exhaust team personnel and drivers. A shorter race week would give them more time to rest, recover, and train.
