[Saba Sports News] Veteran cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has surprisingly resigned from his position on Pakistan Cricket’s Technical Committee ahead of the eagerly awaited ODI World Cup 2023. This committee, which includes cricketing legends like Misbah-ul-Haq, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Hafeez himself, plays a vital role in advising the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, Zaka Ashraf, on strategies and improvements for the national team.
Hafeez shared his decision on his official social media account, expressing gratitude to Zaka Ashraf for the opportunity and his continued commitment to Pakistan cricket. He stated, “I decided to leave Pakistan cricket technical committee. I served as an honorary member. I would like to thank Zaka Ashraf sb for giving me this opportunity. I’m always available whenever Zaka Ashraf sb needs my honest suggestions for Pakistan cricket. My best wishes for Pakistan cricket as always. Pakistan Zindabad.”
The move follows a recent performance review meeting conducted by the PCB after Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the Asia Cup 2023, where they exited the tournament during the Super 4 stage with losses to India and Sri Lanka. The meeting, led by Zaka Ashraf, involved Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, vice-captain Shadab Khan, coaching staff, as well as Misbah and Hafeez.
Zaka Ashraf highlighted one of the key issues discussed during the meeting, emphasizing the need for better player workload management.
He noted, “Discussion revealed that the previous management had allowed a lot of players to play league cricket, causing fatigue ahead of their national duty. Going forward, we have agreed to take a proactive approach to manage players’ workload and prioritize national duty.
