[Saba Sports News] According to GPblog, which has confirmed it, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and Red Bull driver Max Verstappen met aboard a boat this week on Sardinia. Earlier in the day, photos of their meeting were leaked. Before that, people doubted the authenticity of the photos, but that uncertainty has now been resolved. The photos might look fake because they were taken by paparazzi from a distance. Mercedes usually does not comment on such paparazzi photos, but it has confirmed that these images are real. Given that, if they happened to be in the same place on vacation, spending time together is not surprising – it’s like running into someone at the track. Earlier this year, there were rumors that Verstappen might move to Mercedes. But the Dutch driver ultimately chose to extend his contract with Red Bull, and the speculation died down. Before Verstappen confirmed he would stay with Red Bull until 2026, there had also been rumors that Wolff and Verstappen met on Sardinia, but that was denied at the time.
