[Saba Sports News] After the 2025 F1 Australian Grand Prix, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff revealed that the new W16 car is more stable in performance compared to last year’s model and has demonstrated speed that challenges McLaren and Red Bull cars during the race. Although the McLaren team performed strongly in Melbourne, Mercedes proved their competitiveness for the championship with George Russell’s podium finish and Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s impressive debut. Russell performed exceptionally well, finishing third and standing on the podium; Antonelli, starting from 16th place, surged to fourth, completing an impressive debut. Wolff praised both drivers’ performances, believing the W16 car gave them a chance to compete for a podium finish. He especially commended Antonelli’s debut, noting that the speed he exhibited while pushing the car to its limits was impressive, and his confidence and decisiveness during overtakes were remarkable, showcasing maturity beyond his years.
