[Saba Sports News] Earlier, McLaren CEO Zak Brown expressed his views on the team in an interview, stating that the team currently maintains a free competition approach regarding the competitive situation between its two drivers. Zak Brown said: “We assess the competitive landscape after every race to respond to changing circumstances. Last year at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, we decided to temporarily favor assisting Lando Norris. The result was that Oscar Piastri won the race. F1 competition is quite unpredictable. But looking at the current situation, we will still give both team drivers equal treatment to compete for the Drivers’ World Championship.” From Zak Brown’s attitude, we can see that the McLaren F1 team remains optimistic about the F1 Drivers’ Championship. At least at this point, they believe it’s not easy for Verstappen to catch them. Therefore, he allows the team’s two drivers to compete freely. By doing this, perhaps McLaren has already missed the best opportunity to secure the F1 Drivers’ Championship. Because Verstappen, having gained improved car speed, is simply like an unstoppable beast; he can demonstrate extremely strong pace under these conditions without making any mistakes.
