[Saba Sports News] Australian star David Warner concluded his Test cricket career following the last game in the series against Pakistan. With 112 Test appearances, Warner amassed 8786 runs at an average of 44.59, including 26 centuries, solidifying his status as a top Test opener. His final match saw him scoring 57 and receiving a standing ovation from the Sydney crowd.
Initially viewed as a white-ball specialist, Warner defied expectations to excel in Test cricket. This transformation impressed cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who praised Warner’s ability to adapt and evolve in the game. Tendulkar celebrated Warner’s journey from a dynamic T20 player to a steadfast Test cricketer, noting his skill in pacing innings and aggressive play.
“David Warner’s journey from a T20 powerhouse to a dependable Test player showcases remarkable adaptability and determination. His evolution in cricket is impressive, balancing aggression with the skill of inning-building. Congratulations on an illustrious Test career, David! Best wishes to you and your family,” Tendulkar shared on social media.
Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag, who played alongside Warner at Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), had always seen Warner’s potential in Test cricket. Post-retirement, Sehwag congratulated Warner and expressed excitement for his future endeavors.
“Congratulations, David Warner, on an exceptional Test career. From the start, I knew Test cricket was your forte. It’s been an entertaining journey. Looking forward to your future contributions in short-format cricket and beyond. Best wishes for the next chapter,” Sehwag tweeted.
