[Saba Sports News] The Detroit Pistons, already grappling with a staggering 27-game losing streak, have been dealt another setback. The NBA disclosed on Thursday that the Pistons’ home game scheduled for February 26 against the New York Knicks, initially set for Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, will now take place at Madison Square Garden in New York. This change, according to the league, is due to extraordinary scheduling challenges brought on by the In-Season Tournament.
This shift is understandable, considering the inaugural In-Season Tournament has caused widespread scheduling disruptions across the NBA, particularly affecting teams that progressed to later stages. Consequently, the Knicks ended up with 40 home games while the Pistons had 42. This latest move by the NBA addresses this imbalance.
However, the timing of this announcement seems like an additional blow to the Pistons, who have just suffered a historic 27th consecutive defeat at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets, setting a new NBA record.
The league might actually be showing leniency by saving the Pistons from enduring another home game filled with harsh jeers from their own supporters.
