[Saba Sports News] Former NBA champion Otto Porter Jr. might soon be on the move, as reported by Tony Jones of The Athletic. The Utah Jazz have allowed Porter to take time away to consider his future while they gear up for the rest of the season. Despite being in good health and ready to play, Porter has been given the chance to ponder a contract buyout with the Jazz. This would open the door for him to join a new team.
Porter, who turned 30, played a key role in the Golden State Warriors’ 2022 championship victory. After his stint with the Warriors, he joined the Toronto Raptors before being traded to the Jazz this year in a deal involving Kelly Olynyk and Ochai Agbaji. Given the Jazz’s focus on rebuilding, Porter, who excels in defense and boasts a 39.7 percent career average from beyond the arc, could significantly contribute to a contending team.
To be playoff eligible with any new team, Porter must sign by March 1. It appears Porter is leaning towards making a move, potentially even rejoining a former team looking to bolster their frontcourt for the playoff push.
