[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks seem to be frequently in contact with Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri, as they’re reportedly eyeing another trade target from Toronto. Following the Raptors’ recent trade of All-Star Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks have shown interest in acquiring Bruce Brown, who moved to the Raptors in the deal.
SNY’s Ian Begley reports an “internal interest” in the Knicks organization to bring Brown on board. Brown, who won an NBA title once, had previously been on the Knicks’ radar and even met with them during his first free agency meeting this offseason. He had signed a significant 2-year contract with the Pacers.
The Knicks are looking to bolster their frontcourt, particularly at the wing position, where a player like Brown could fit well under head coach Tom Thibodeau. The team has recently been heavily reliant on former Raptors forward OG Anunoby and Josh Hart, Thibodeau’s favored player, for extended minutes.
With the Raptors possibly in a rebuilding phase, they might consider trading Brown, a seasoned veteran, for future assets. However, the Raptors are also close to a Play-In tournament spot and need to fill the gap in their lineup left by Siakam’s departure.
Brown’s performance with the Pacers has been notable, averaging 12.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists over 33 games.
