[Saba Sports News] A New York Knicks player expressed dissatisfaction with Candace Parker’s recent remarks. During TNT’s coverage of the Knicks’ 108-103 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, WNBA star and TNT analyst Parker commented on Knicks guard Jalen Brunson’s playoff performance. Parker stated, “Last year in the playoffs, [Brunson had a] great first round, second round not so much.”
However, Brunson’s actual performance in the second round against the Miami Heat contradicts this statement. Despite the Knicks losing the series, Brunson excelled with averages of 31.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game, boasting impressive 50/35/89 shooting splits. His performance often outshined others on the court and was an improvement from the first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Josh Hart, Brunson’s teammate, criticized Parker’s assessment in a post on X, implying that some analysts don’t closely follow basketball. “Shows you some of them don’t actually watch basketball,” Hart commented.
Parker’s remark, likely influenced by the Knicks’ first-round win and second-round loss, was factually incorrect, leading to Hart’s and others’ corrections. Brunson, a 6-foot-2 All-Star candidate, has been a subject of debate in the NBA, with Becky Hammon also recently making controversial remarks about him.
