[Saba Sports News] The Milwaukee Bucks, fresh from considering coaching changes, are now contemplating roster adjustments.
Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports recently reported that the Bucks are exploring a trade involving veteran swingman Pat Connaughton. The aim is to strengthen their defensive lineup, potentially adding guard Cameron Payne in the same trade deal.
Connaughton, a key reserve in the Bucks’ 2021 NBA Championship run, has been with the team since 2018. He’s one of the six remaining players from the championship team, which includes Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, and Bobby Portis.
However, Connaughton’s role has diminished this season due to Malik Beasley’s emergence and the rise of younger players like MarJon Beauchamp and Andre Jackson Jr. Consequently, his average has dropped to 5.4 points over 21.3 minutes per game.
The proposed trade package, including Connaughton and Payne, might not be sufficient to acquire their primary target. Yet, it could pave the way for the Bucks to secure a more robust forward to enhance their defense, currently ranked in the bottom ten, ahead of the February 8 trade deadline.
