[Saba Sports News] Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic once again showcased his unique blend of agility and skill, reminiscent of a nimble guard trapped in the frame of a towering 7-footer.
During a Sunday showdown against the Portland Trail Blazers, Jokic masterfully deceived center Deandre Ayton with a pump fake, leaving him searching for the ball at the top of the key. This happened in the second quarter of the game at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. Ayton, an Arizona graduate, was tricked into checking if the shot was successful, only to find Jokic breezing past him for a score and a foul. This play narrowed the Nuggets’ gap to 52-47 with Jokic’s and-one.
Though Ayton found himself outplayed in that moment, he maintained a strong presence throughout the game. The Blazers’ center tallied 27 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks. Despite Ayton’s efforts, Jokic slightly edged him out with a performance of 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, leading the Nuggets to a 112-103 win.
