Sports News] According to British media reports, Nottingham Forest have
enlisted the services of top British lawyer De Marco to help them navigate the
potential risk of financial irregularities. This move comes as a proactive
measure to avoid facing similar penalties to Everton, who had 10 league points
deducted for breaching the Premier League’s financial regulations. Nottingham
Forest, like Manchester City, are also potentially exposed to such risks.
Following their promotion to the Premier League in May 2022, Nottingham Forest
have made 43 player signings, resulting in significant financial losses when
combined with player wages. Premier League regulations dictate that a club’s
cumulative losses over a three-year period must not exceed £105 million. It is
noteworthy that Nottingham Forest managed to evade punishment by selling
Brennan Johnson to Tottenham Hotspur during the previous summer transfer
window. The deal, which amounted to £47.5 million, not only helped them avoid
penalties but also set a record for the highest-selling player in Nottingham
Forest’s history.
