[Saba Sports News] The incredibly talented Sanju Samson seems to have arrived for good at the international level, at least in the ODI format.
Playing his 35th international innings, Samson smashed his maiden hundred, taking India to a total of 296/8 against South Africa in the series-decider on Thursday.
Samson’s 108-run knock further improved his ODI record. The right-hander has hit 510 runs in 16 ODIs at an average of 56.67 and a strike-rate of 99.61.
Speaking after the innings, Samson highlighted his hardwork, sharing that he has been putting in a lot of efforts to improve his game in the last year or so.
“That (maiden 100) feels actually interesting. I am just going through it. Yeah, it feels fantastic. Yeah, absolutely; as you said, there was a lot of hard work being put on behind the scenes, and today is just its result. There’s been a lot of work I’ve been putting in physically and mentally over the past year,” Samson said as quoted.
The quality of Samson’s knock multiples because of the situation India were in. The Men in Blue had lost their two wickets early early in a must-win fixture and to score a hundred from there is a massive achievement in itself.
