[Saba Sports News] Pakistani all-rounder Agha Salman reached out to Indian cricket star Virat Kohli through Instagram following Kohli’s on-field altercation with ex-cricketer Gautam Gambhir during an IPL 2023 match. This incident came to light during a chat show where Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq was a guest.
Salman’s message aimed at encouraging Kohli to stay calm despite the heated moment. In a subsequent interview, Salman elaborated on his initiative to contact Kohli and the ensuing interaction that became a highlight at the Asia Cup 2023, where Kohli made a friendly gesture by visiting the Pakistan dressing room. This interaction was spurred by Shadab Khan mentioning Salman’s message to Kohli, turning the incident into a viral moment on social media.
Salman expressed immense respect for Kohli, hinting at the content of his message but choosing to keep the details private. He recounted the circumstances under which he sent the message, emphasizing its positive intent. The message’s revelation led to a light-hearted exchange between the cricketers, with Kohli admitting the likelihood of missing the message amidst numerous others he receives. Salman attributed the reveal to a casual conversation with Shadab Khan that inadvertently brought the message to Kohli’s attention.
Despite being part of Pakistan’s squad for both the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023, Salman’s role was minimal, and he did not play in the pivotal World Cup match against India. His involvement in these tournaments underscores his emerging status in international cricket, even as his direct contribution remained limited in key matches.
