[Saba Sports News] In a recent charity
match between Porto Legends and Real Madrid Legends, Porto emerged victorious
with a 1-0 win. However, Porto star Mario Jardel expressed his discontent in an
interview with the media, stating that he was not invited to participate in the
game. He remarked, “I don’t understand why I wasn’t invited. Honestly, it
really saddens me. I am the only player in the team’s history to have won the
Golden Boot twice. I was once an integral part of the team, but now I feel
marginalized. This is not how a legend should be treated.” Jardel was
forthright in his comments, acknowledging that he had faced personal issues,
including problems with alcohol, off the pitch. Nevertheless, he believed that
his contributions to Porto during his career should outweigh any past
indiscretions. He emphasized that nobody is perfect and that he is currently
focused on maintaining good physical condition and gradually recovering his
health with the necessary support to overcome his struggles. Jardel expressed
his commitment to playing every game as if it were his last, but he lamented
that the team seemed disinterested in his progress or well-being. His exclusion
from the Real Madrid Legends game further compounded his disappointment.
