Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, the Brazilian Football
Association is interested in including Brazilian international Vitor Roque in
their squad for the Olympic South American qualifiers scheduled for January
next year. However, Barcelona are unwilling to release him for this tournament,
even though Roque will only join Barcelona for the 2024/25 season. The reason
behind Barcelona’s reluctance is that they do not want to risk Roque getting
injured in the Olympic qualifiers. Additionally, these qualifiers are not part
of the FIFA schedule, further disincentivizing Barcelona from allowing Roque’s
participation. Roque, a talented striker, is highly regarded in Brazil and has
earned the nickname “the real No. 9.” At just 18 years old, he has
already impressed fans with his performances in the Brazilian League. He has
made 96 appearances, scoring 34 goals and providing 12 assists for his team,
Parana Atletico. Barcelona officially announced the signing of Roque on July
12, 2023, and he will join the team for the 2024/25 season. The contract
between Roque and Barcelona runs until June 30, 2031, with a staggering release
clause of 500 million euros.
