Sports News] It has been reported that Everton, as a result of violating the
Premier League’s profitability and sustainable development rules, had 10 points
deducted by the league officials. This deduction places Everton in a precarious
position in the relegation zone. According to British media, several key
players in Everton earn salaries exceeding £100,000 per week, and their
contracts include clauses that stipulate salary reductions in the event of
relegation, potentially resulting in significant cuts of up to 50%. In response
to this situation, some star players have reportedly reached out to their
agents and legal teams to explore the possibility of taking legal action in
order to claim compensation if their salaries are reduced due to relegation.
The players argue that they have contributed to the team’s point accumulation,
and therefore, relegation should not be their responsibility. While it is understandable
that players would seek to protect their legitimate interests, this course of
action may give the impression that they are distancing themselves from the
team during challenging times.
