Sports News] An Italian journalist is currently under investigation for alleged
defamation of players, according to the latest reports from Italian media. The
journalist in question, Corona, was taken into custody by the relevant Italian
authorities. In October of last year, Corona made claims that Stephan Shaarawy
and other players were involved in gambling, which generated significant
attention and public reaction. Following the exposure of a football scandal in
Italy last year, which resulted in punishments for Fagioli and Tonali, Corona
alleged that Roma’s El Shaarawy, Nicola Zalewski, and Lazio’s Casale were also
suspected of gambling. The players swiftly denied the allegations and expressed
their intention to take legal action to protect their rights. Subsequently,
prosecutors in Milan initiated an investigation into Corona for suspected
serious defamation. It has been confirmed that El Shaarawy, Zalewski, and
Casale are not included in the football betting case under investigation.
Corona will face charges in the future. The editor believes that spreading news
without evidence solely for the sake of generating traffic is highly
inappropriate. The investigation by the relevant authorities is therefore
justified, and it is hoped that appropriate action will be taken against
Corona.
