Notably, the youngster who came through Tottenham Hotspur’s academy travelled to China with his team in the summer of 2023 to compete in the Shanghai Future Star Cup. Public records show Tynan Torres Thompson was born in London, England on 17 April 2008. Standing at 1.87 metres, he operates as a left winger. Having developed through all youth tiers at Tottenham Hotspur, Tynan Thompson joined Manchester United this summer and officially linked up with the Red Devils’ U21 side. According to Transfermarkt, the transfer fee for the deal stands at €4.7 million.
As reported by the Shanghai Football Association, the then 16-year-old Tynan Thompson travelled to Shanghai, China with Tottenham Hotspur U16 in the summer of 2023 to take part in the Future Star Cup. The Shanghai FA commented that competing against young talents from across the globe at the tournament provided him with vital competitive experience that aided his subsequent professional development. It is understood that the 2026 Shanghai Future Star Cup will kick off in August. Boys’ teams confirmed to take part include Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayer Leverkusen, Athletic Bilbao, Sporting CP and River Plate.
