[Saba Sports News] Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch took a jab at Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray on Tuesday.
Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert was fined $75,000 by the NBA for making a “money” gesture toward the referees during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against Denver. When asked about the fine before Game 5, Finch condemned Gobert’s actions but also took the opportunity to criticize Murray.
“Obviously, you can’t be showing up the officials like that,” Finch said. “But I’d like to see the itemized receipt. If it’s $75,000 for the money gesture, then it must be $10,000 for the towel and $15,000 for the heating pad? It’s a bit of a head-scratcher to us.”
Finch was referring to Murray’s Game 2 tantrum from the Nuggets’ bench, where Murray was fined $100,000 for throwing a towel and a heating pad onto the floor in frustration, as well as flashing the “money” gesture during the game.
The Nuggets, having climbed out of a 0-2 series deficit with two road wins, have seen a testy semifinal matchup, and more fines may be issued before the series ends.
