[Saba Sports News] The Minnesota Timberwolves face a daunting challenge after their Game 3 loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, but Anthony Edwards is far from giving up.
Edwards recorded 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists against the Mavericks on Sunday night, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Timberwolves from falling into a 3-0 series deficit. Historically, 154 NBA teams have been down 3-0 in a series, and none have come back to win.
After Minnesota’s loss on Saturday, Edwards was heard in the locker room urging his teammates to make history.
“Time to make history, fellas,” Edwards said, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic. “I still don’t feel like they can beat us, bro. We haven’t all been clicking at one time. One game. One game.”
Acknowledging the historical odds, Edwards asked his teammates, “What are we gonna do?”
The Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns in the opening round of the playoffs and then defeated the Denver Nuggets in seven games after taking an early 2-0 lead, demonstrating their resilience. However, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving’s outstanding performances have made the Mavericks tough to beat.
Edwards made a statement with a spectacular dunk in Game 3, but Doncic and Irving each scored 33 points to secure another win for the Mavericks. While it’s highly unlikely that Minnesota will win four straight games, Edwards is doing his best to lead in this difficult situation.
