[Saba Sports News] The Philadelphia 76ers might bring back a familiar frontcourt player.
Evan Sidery of Forbes reported Thursday that the 76ers will “likely” target veteran big man Andre Drummond as a free agent this offseason. They also pursued Drummond at the February trade deadline. The Phoenix Suns are another team with interest in Drummond and may also consider him this summer.
Drummond, 30, played for the 76ers during the 2021-22 season as Joel Embiid’s backup. He signed with the Chicago Bulls in 2022 and has averaged 8.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game off the bench this year.
A two-time All-Star and four-time NBA rebounding leader, Drummond still occasionally makes low-IQ plays. However, for a 76ers team that struggled with a makeshift center rotation when Embiid was injured, a reliable backup like Drummond could be valuable.
