[Saba Sports News] According to American entertainment outlet Variety, the documentary Bukayo Saka: No Time to Waste, centering on Arsenal and England winger Bukayo Saka, will premiere on Disney+ across selected international markets on June 5 before arriving on the ESPN app. The feature is scheduled for linear broadcast on Fox in the United States on June 7.
The documentary’s launch comes less than two weeks after Arsenal claimed its first Premier League title in 22 years and under a week following the club’s heartbreaking penalty-shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest in the Champions League final. Set ahead of the upcoming World Cup, the film has drawn heightened fan interest. Saka has been named in England’s provisional squad and is tipped to play a pivotal role under head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Helmed by Emmy Award-winning director Robert Alexander and promoted by WhatsApp, Bukayo Saka: No Time to Waste is co-produced by Saka himself and Modern Arts. The documentary unites two generations of Arsenal icons: Saka and Thierry Henry, who delve into the sacrifices required to compete at elite football’s highest tier. Throughout the footage, the pair reflect on sporting pressure, mental resilience and the pure joy that first drove them into football. They also revisit Saka’s childhood family home in Ealing, the birthplace of his football journey.
In my view, should the documentary feature authentic and in-depth storytelling, it could evolve into a landmark audiovisual work documenting the psychological development of academy graduates from the Premier League. Conversely, if the production prioritizes commercial marketing — including tie-in promotions with WhatsApp, ongoing contract extension rumours and pre-World Cup publicity — it risks being dismissed as a vanity PR project.
